6/27/19 Fort Worth, Texas – Multiple children injured
Three children were in a home when one of them, a 7-year-old boy, found a shotgun in a laundry basket. An older child, a 10-year-old girl, tried to take the gun away from him. As she tried to take it away, it fired, striking the 7-year-old and his 5-year-old sister. The 7-year-old was shot in the chest and the 5-year-old was shot in the arm. The 7-year-old’s injuries were serious. Police were considering charges.

A 2-year-old shot himself in the foot with a .22 caliber revolver while under the care of his grandfather. He was flown to the hospital but is expected to survive. No charges have been filed.
6/24/19 San Bernardino, California – Child killed
12-year-old twins found an unsecured gun in the master bedroom of their home. As they were handling it, it fired and one of the twins was struck. He did not survive. The boys’ mother was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.

A 4-year-old little boy was shot by his 3-year-old brother while the two were playing with a loaded handgun they found in a drawer. The children’s father and the owner of the gun has been charged with reckless homicide.
